A Message from the President
February 6, 2018
Hello to everyone. I look forward to serving as your new AAR president. I greatly thank my outstanding predecessors for their service and continued support of my personal AAR and ACR efforts.
2017 was a great year for the Alabama Academy of Radiology and we look forward to 2018. As many of you know, I accepted the Overall Excellence in Division C ACR Award on Monday May 22, 2017. Our 2017 Capitol Hill Experience was highlighted by visits with Richard Shelby, Luther Strange, and additional congressional members.
The AAR will be taking a new direction at a time where change is clearly needed. We are actively making changes based on your excellent response to our membership surveys.
We will have a 2018 Spring Meeting in Birmingham at the Bruno Center at St. Vincent’s on April 28, 2018. The meeting will be one day only. There will be NO REGISTRATION CHARGE to attend if you are an AAR member. If you are not currently an AAR member, please become a member and join us. The morning will consist of ProAssurance, an ACR speaker Dr. Frank Lexa who will focus on quality and reimbursement with "Value Added Medicine for the Radiologist", and a business manager speaker Barbara Rubel from MSN Health Care Solutions. Following a short business meeting, we will have an interactive pulmonary fibrosis presentation with CME. Please note that the meeting will begin at 7:30 am to accommodate Dr. Lexa's schedule. Please make every effort to attend. I look forward to seeing each of you there.
Please watch for additional short membership surveys. I greatly appreciate your prompt response.
We greatly need your feedback to make positive change in your AAR. We will use your feedback to formulate our new AAR direction. You will see our new direction with the April 28 AAR meeting at the Bruno Center in Birmingham. Please review our mission statement as you complete the subsequent surveys. We want the AAR to be relevant to your practice. Our mission statement is:
Advancement of the science of radiology, improving radiological service to patients and the medical community, commitment to continuing education for radiologists, understanding the socioeconomic issues of radiology practice, and the establishment and maintenance of high medical and ethical standards.
Thank you for your attention and for your future input and assistance.
Therese M. Weber, MD, FACR
