The members of the AAR greatly appreciate your consideration for membership in our outstanding organization. If you have questions about membership please contact the AAR.

Do You Have Any New Radiologists in Your Practice?
Maintaining a current membership roster provides a challenge to the AAR given our mobile society. This is particularly difficult when residents, medical physicists and practicing radiologists move into new practices sometimes from other states. Help us to contact these vital members.
If a radiologist or medical physicist has joined your practice, hospital, or community in the past year or two, let us know by sending us their name, phone, address, and practice location. If the individual is not a member of the AAR or ACR, encourage them to join—the future of our profession depends upon it. The AAR and ACR offer significantly reduced membership dues for the first several years following completion of residency and fellowship training, as well as for physicists.
The members of the AAR and ACR greatly appreciate your consideration of our membership appeal.
The AAR has seven classes of membership:
Members in Physics
Associate Members in Physics
Members in Training Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Physics
Retired or Inactive Members
To be an active member of the Alabama Academy of Radiology you must be a diplomat of the American Board of Radiology, be of high professional reputation, and be a member of the American College of Radiology. Active members are encouraged to join the state and county medical societies.

The primary goal of the Membership Committee is to promote membership in the Alabama Academy of Radiology. We seek to retain and increase our members by providing a truly outstanding organization. Serving our membership is our number one objective. To this end, we seek for all Radiologists practicing in the State of Alabama to become members of our organization. Our short term goal is increase in the number of members by 5% over the next two years.
One of our current projects will include sending out a survey to all members of the AAR. The survey we plan to develop is designed to learn how best the organization can meet your needs and desires. We are very interested to know how we are doing and how we can make the AAR an even better organization. So when you receive the AAR Membership Survey please take a few moments to complete it. This will allow the AAR to devote the appropriate time and resources to the things that you consider most important.
One of our other projects is to increase our membership by reaching out to radiologists throughout the state. This will be done at the local level through our members. It also involves reviewing membership lists in the other state and local medical societies to see whom we should be contacting for potential membership.
Building resident participation is another goal of the committee. Today’s residents are tomorrow’s leaders. In the ACR, the resident section has become more active in recent years and we would like to see the same within our state society. We look forward to promoting more involvement by Radiologists in Training in our organization during the years to come.
The efforts of our committee have been recognized nationally by the American College of Radiology. The AAR has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Membership in 2003 and again in 2004. We are very grateful for these distinguished awards.
In summary, the task of this committee is to not only to increase the number of members, but also to help shape the Alabama Academy of Radiology in a way that benefits all our members.
